English Proficiency Index

The EF EPI ranks countries and regions by the average English score of adult non-native speakers who take EF's free online English tests (today the EF SET), published annually since 2011. English skills affect India's services exports, outsourcing, higher education and access to global jobs. In the 2025 edition India ranked 74th of 123 countries and regions with a score of 484, in the Low proficiency band.
