The Global AI Index ranks countries on their capacity for artificial intelligence, combining over 100 indicators across seven sub-pillars (talent, infrastructure, operating environment, research, development, government strategy and commercial) grouped under implementation, innovation and investment. Scores are relative within each edition, with the top-scoring country set to 100. Launched by Tortoise Media in 2019, the index's sixth edition (December 2025) was published by The Observer and covers 93 countries.
