Global Soft Power Index
Brand Finance’s Global Soft Power Index scores countries out of 100 on how they are seen abroad, using a large online survey of the general public (the first two editions also polled specialist audiences) that rates each nation’s familiarity, reputation and influence and, in the current framework, 35 attributes grouped into eight pillars such as governance, business and trade, culture and heritage, and education and science. It is a perception measure, not a count of resources, so it shows how India’s image compares with other countries rather than what India actually does. In the 2026 edition India ranked 32nd of 193 UN member states with a score of 48.0.
