Hurun Global Unicorn Index
Hurun's annual count of unicorns, defined as start-ups founded in the 2000s, valued at US$1bn or more and not yet listed on a public exchange; countries are ranked by the number of unicorns headquartered there. It is a rough gauge of how deep a country's venture-funded start-up ecosystem is. In the 2026 edition India had 61 unicorns and ranked 4th of 52 countries, after the UK moved ahead of it.
